Yash Gandhi Foundation Awards $90,000 in Grants to International I-Cell Disease Researchers

The Yash Gandhi Foundation is beyond thrilled to share that we have awarded two $45,000 research grants to Dr. Diego Medina (Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine, Pozzuoli, Italy) and Dr. Thomas Braulke (University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany) for their project entitled ML2TREAT: Application of fluorescence-based high-throughput screening approaches to identify small compounds to treat Mucolipidosis type II (ML II). This project will utilize the ML II cell model and cutting-edge technologies to identify various small compounds and the way these compounds affect the pathway that targets enzymes to the lysosome, which is impaired in ML II. Drs. Braulke and Medina are two esteemed researchers that bring an extensive background of working in lysosomal storage disorders, and we are honored to fund their work. With this grant, the Yash Gandhi Foundation has granted $834,000 to ML researchers since 2012.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the Foundation and the I-Cell community.

With gratitude,

Ashesh, Sonal, and Kavi
